Up and Coming Event In June

The Gower Arts in Association with Three Cliffs Coffee Shop Presents,

Journey and Memory,

A celebration of local creativity and produce.

From Friday the 4th - 11th of June at Three Cliffs Coffee shop.

The Gower Arts invites you to an event that introduces and encourages the diversity of local creative and artistic talent.
Saturday the 6th and Sunday the 7th june A weekend of Festivities Including:

An Exhibition of Contemporary art works by an eclectic mix of local artists.

Performances by local performers and artists.

Round table open discussions based around the themes of creativity and locality.

An alternative Craft Fair of sustainable and recycled products and local produce.

Workshops by local crafters, makers and caterers.

Taste sessions of freshly prepared dishes made with the finest local produce.

The festivities kick off with a private view of the exhibition from 7pm on Friday the 4th of June and continue throughout the weekend.

Join us in celebrating Gower in ways you have never seen it before.

The Gower arts is a not for profit organization that is determined in its efforts to highlight the work of artists living and
working in the Gower and Swansea area, and looks to explore the impact that life in such an environment has on their lives and the work they create.

Call For Submissions, Open Exhibition

The Gower Arts is seeking submissions from local artists for its annual exhibition in June.

Entries are invited which touch on the themes of Journey and/or memory and which also have links to the Gower and Swansea environments.

Eligibility: Open to all artists 16+ that have resided in Swansea/Gower area for at least one year prior to submission.

Submissions: Up to three works, submitted as prints or a cd, if submitted on cd make sure u save files as jpeg or tiff and no bigger than 5mb.

Any medium is accepted, However please send copies of your work Not the originals.

A short statement of up to 200 words describing the work submitted and a shot biography of the artist to be submitted with the work.

All entries will need an accompanying SAE for return of work.

Sales. The Gower Arts will take a modest commission of 20% of any work sold at exhibition, This commission helps with the running costs of future events.

The Deadline for entries is the 15th of May 2010.

About The Gower Arts

The Gower Arts is a not for profit organization providing a platform for artists in and around the Gower and Swansea bay area to exhibit their work and show off their creativity.
The Gower Arts promotes the diversity and talent of emerging and established artists from the area and explores the impact that living in such an environment can have on the artists lives and the work they create.

Since june 2008 the Gower Arts has put on many shows and events in and around the Swansea area including exhibitions in Elysium Gallery and events in Monkey Bar and Three Cliffs Coffee shop. These events have proved very popular and The Gower Arts has grown organically over the 2 years since its inception and has stuck to its primary goals of exploring the diversity of artistic talent in the area.
